Our summer concert held on Tuesday 10 July 2018, at Montford Parish Hall, was a magnificent finish to the season, on a beautiful, very hot, Shropshire evening.
The audience were treated to an evening of light and varied songs, some traditional pieces and songs of wartime. Choir member Annette also sang two well-known pieces beautifully – Scarborough Fair and Summertime – accompanied by John Bowen on guitar.
On the night, our very well-supported raffle was in aid of the charity Shropshire Blood Bikes, which works closely with the NHS to assist with the time-sensitive transport of not only urgent blood supplies, but also other items around the country.
Mr Sandy Harper, from Shropshire Blood Bikes, spoke about their important work and explained about the part they play in the national network of Blood Bike groups who cover different ‘patches’. He explained some of the significant costs involved in maintaining the bikes, for example, due to the high mileages ridden, bikes need to be MOT’d every quarter.and Mark Southall
We were delighted, when the final sum was counted and we were able to confirm a total of £500 raised.
Mark Southall, from Shropshire Blood Bikes, came along to thank us on the first evening of our 2018-19 season. Long-time bassist and committee member Tom Kaye presented Mark with the donation cheque for £500.
